So with all of that out of the way, let's get into the case. Today, we are going to be discussing the solved murder of Aniyah Blanchard. Aniyah Blanchard was born June 22nd, 2000 in Homewood, Alabama to her parents, Angela Harris and Elijah Blanchard.
I'm not exactly sure whether her parents were married at the time and I'm not exactly sure when, but her mother got married to a man named Walt Harris who is a heavyweight UFC fighter. Her father also got remarried to a woman named Yeshiba. Anaya has a couple of younger step siblings. I think two as far as I saw, and an older brother named Elijah who was only 17 months older than her.
Her parents described Aniyah and Elijah's relationship as being as inseparable as twins. They were so close growing up and Elijah saw himself sort of as her protector. Aniyah was described as being an impactful leader, a role model, generous, and very hardworking. She was kind to everyone around her and went out of her way to help others when they were down.
She was a natural nurturer just like her mother who worked as a registered nurse. As she grew older, she just naturally took on the responsibility of helping take care of her younger step siblings, cleaning up after them and making sure that they brushed their teeth before school.
Her stepfather Walt said that she was his number one fan and she always gave him a reason to keep going and always pushed him to do better even when he wanted to give up. when she was in high school, she played for the softball team and her coach said that she had no problem taking the lead and was the type of student that you'd wish to have on your team forever.
when she was 16 years old, she got her first job working shifts at the urban cook house and stayed working there up until the very last day that she left for college. Once she graduated from Homewood High School, she followed her brother to the Southern Union State Community College in Oblika, Alabama, a little over two hours away from her hometown of Homewood.
Like I said, she was incredibly close to her older brother, so it made sense that she would go to the same college as him to be as close to him as possible. At that point, she wasn't totally sure what she wanted to do with her life yet. She just wanted to get her general education courses out of the way before she considered exactly what she wanted to do.
Whether it would be art or education, maybe business. Either way, no matter what path she decided to take on in life, she was motivated to be successful and to make something of herself. Now, on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019, 19-year-old Anaya went to go visit her mother and stepfather at home. She told him earlier that day that she was pretty tired before dropping off her brother at the home.
She then left sometime before midnight that same night.
