Carreras de barriles en Panamá un deporte que une familias - TvAgro por Juan Gonzalo Angel Restrepo - TvAgro

06 Nov 2025

Description

On March 15, 2000, the National Barrel Horse Association of Panama (NBHAP) was formed, a dream long held by many sports enthusiasts in this country. In a short time, it has garnered recognition and awards in international competitions. This discipline unites families and features the participation of male and female competitors of all ages, just as the sport is practiced worldwide. The care, training, and preparation before each competition are key to achieving the best times in a sport in which rider and horse attempt to complete a cloverleaf pattern. The pair must spin through the three barrels forming a triangle and race out of the third barrel at full speed in a straight line. Whoever completes this in the shortest time is the winner. Originally, barrel racing was created for women, while men competed in bull riding, colt riding, and calf roping. The first competitions in this sport took place in Texas, United States.
