Twitter @juangangel It was founded in 1722 by Pedro Manuel Angarita and José Manuel Cáceres Enciso. It was the capital of the García Rovira province. It is located on flat, open terrain, with temperatures around 18°C. The municipality occupies 686 km² and borders Cerrito to the north; Carcasí, Enciso, and Málaga to the south; Boyacá to the east; and San Andrés to the west. The Servitá and Sartanejo rivers cross the municipality. Demographics The municipality has 7,133 inhabitants, of whom 2,508 live in the urban area and 4,625 in the rural area. It is one of the few municipalities in Santander with inhabitants belonging to the Uwa indigenous community. Economy and Tourism Concepción is a wool-producing municipality and has several small wool factories. The town's fairs focus primarily on sheep, livestock, horse, and wool product exhibitions, as well as artisanal crafts. The town's residents also engage in agriculture, primarily growing barley, wheat, potatoes, corn, beans, blackberries, and curuba. On December 8th, the town celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception.
