TV AGRO

La raza bovina criolla guabalá en la República de Panamá - TvAgro por Juan Gonzalo Angel Restrepo

18 Nov 2025

Description

The Guabalá Creole cattle breed originates from Panama, specifically the province of Chiriquí. It is characterized by its great adaptability to the climatic and geographical conditions of this area, as well as its resistance to common diseases and parasites. Furthermore, its meat is of high quality, tenderness, and flavor, making it highly valued in the local market. Over the years, it has adapted very well to extensive production systems in rural areas of Panama, where the animals can graze freely and subsist on native pastures and other natural resources. Juan Carlos Hernández and Raúl González are members of the Association of Creole Breeders of Panama (ACCRIPA) and are currently working on the preservation and improvement of Creole breeds through conservation and genetic selection programs, especially with the Guabalá Creole cattle breed.
