TV AGRO

Parque Nacional Camino de Cruces - TvAgro por Juan Gonzalo Angel Restrepo

13 Sep 2025

Description

Twitter @juangangel The Camino de Cruces (Royal Road) was established around 1530 as an alternative route, as an older route existed, the royal road. Its construction began in 1519, after the founding of Panama City. Treasures bound for the Spanish crown were initially transported along this route. The Gold Route began in Lima, Peru. Ships carried the treasures to Panama City, from where they were loaded onto mules for their journey along this road. One of the most important paths in the history of the Americas for hundreds of years, this narrow cobblestone route was the link that connected Panama and Peru with Spain, a route along which some of South America's most valuable treasures were transported.
