Fighting in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo between the Rwandan-backed M23 rebels and Congolese forces has been going on for decades now under a mediation effort.

The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and one of the rebel groups in the country, the M23, have signed a framework agreement for a peace deal.

The M23 rebel group, which is fighting government forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo, says it's agreed to withdraw from the key city of Uvira in South Kivu province.
