Their rake step has actually damaged Liverpool.
Shakespeare it's a bit like that transfer was a plague on both the houses wasn't it Newcastle and Liverpool yeah but we've at least ended up with the player and hopefully next season he's going to prove and we've already seen enough to go he's really good we know he's really good they go through all of this end up with a 29 year old who got injured like Isaac dead quick then had to go to AFCON and who they've fundamentally decided is shit and they're picking a Sula who was at the club who scores against us in the second game of the season they're picking a Sula ahead of him now
And he's now 30.
So they've spent Β£55 million on this 30-year-old who they've decided is fundamentally rubbish.
But that's almost in a way nothing compared to the fact that they spent Β£75 million on a lad who came in, looked great.
The manager couldn't work out how to press with him or continue to use him.
I loved the Walter Marder era of the season.
It was great.
I enjoyed the Walter Marder bit.
And he comes across really likeable and it's going all pretty well.
And then he scores an own goal in the first North East derby in the league in years.
And they get beat 1-0.
And that just, the season, his season falls apart from there.
It results in Eddie Howe playing him in fucking centre mid, turning him into another Joel Linton.
Playing Anthony Gordon up top, which was an option he could have done all the way through anyway from minute one.
So they've ended up now with these two footballers, one of whom they paid Β£55 million for, and Brentford must have been absolutely laughing their heads off as they bowled him out the door.
They've got the other one who I think is a definite player in Walter Marder, but it's not going to happen now for Newcastle, so he's going to end up being sold on a cut-price deal.
It has, as I say, it's had knock-on effects for Liverpool and for Alexander Izak, but they're going to finish in the bottom half.
They were in the Champions League.
It has absolutely stitched them because they weren't prepared to accept a world record fee, sorry, a British record fee for the footballer who was 26 and wanted to go.
