So the monsters are spreading.
They're spreading the disease.
And also Ransom is potentially going to die.
Huge stakes.
So how did we feel about Rance of the Starling as a sequel?
And they did trick us, which was great.
They did trick us.
Let's expand on that a little bit.
So our new
point of view character is Caspia and she's part of a whole different society on a whole different continent who do not seem to be aware of each other, these two different places.
She comes from a society where they are shape changers and they can turn into these starlings, as they're called, which are, you know, the reader immediately realises the Crux, who are the monsters of the other continent.
So part of this book is her journey to Calandra and sort of following along Odessa's journey a little bit as well.
So I quite liked that because like I do love when they open up a world and I was like, oh, here's some answers.
Because I think book one was such an action filled book, but it didn't give you a lot of the secrets.
Whereas this was much more of a secrets unfolding, more questy book.
I think it unfolds in a really satisfying way because like as soon as Caspia lands on this continent, she's essentially like an alien in this world and everything is unfamiliar to her.
And even like these animals, which she would, you know, she has like this power to be like, to be loved by all animals.
And immediately the monsters, she's like, doesn't recognize them.
And she's like, why doesn't this work here?
There's even things like she has greater abilities on this planet.
