How about we start trialling those before they end up in prison?
That's what preventative measures are.
Why do we only have them there as something to use to rehabilitate them so that they don't re-offend?
Why aren't we using these same programs to
to fix what's obviously quite not right with them.
So I absolutely believe that if they had done things differently, maybe, just maybe, he would have taken it more.
He would have been, he can't deny that he has been told what the repercussions will be, what the consequences will be.
He absolutely should accept help.
Does he recognise he needs help?
Does he need to be told by professionals that he needs help?
But what I'm saying is it could have de-escalated the situation as opposed to what ended up happening.
Well, the response there gave us hope because that turned out to be a leading constable.
His reaction was the complete opposite.
He was shocked to see the sexually explicit message.
And the first thing that came out of his mouth was, have you been here before?
Which, of course, led to me saying, yes, absolutely, six months ago.
Are you saying something should have been done then?
And his reply to that was, I'm just never going to forget it.
Let's just say some of us do our job better than others.
