I want to preface what I have to say by saying I had the chance and the honor to meet Art Rooney on more than one occasion.

In particular, he was very nice to my nephew at camp a couple years ago.

Every bit as nice as he appears, just so mellow, you know.

But I have to say I'm nervous about this process, and I'll say why later.

I just feel like he's closer, obviously, to the end and the beginning in terms of his tenure.

I feel like he possibly could be looking to step that in the near future.

And he just seems a little bit checked out to me when he addresses the media.

I just don't know how aware he is of the qualities of the candidates in this coaching search.

And I'm worried about the McCarthy thing.

I think there could be some sentimentality factor there, and there's no room for that in my opinion.

This is probably like a creature of circumstance where, like you're saying, they're missing so many guys that it's like we have to default to building blocks here.

Well, the thing is, those building blocks would make you a great hockey team.

So relying on that and staying within that structure that John Hines and his coaching staff has set up, put them in an area where they found success and.
