So when it went public with Adam and Ian and Tom breaking it, it was when they finally let Vers the news, let him know.

They didn't want him finding out on Twitter.

And they've learned that before, whether it be the Jared Goff trade or some others, they want to talk to the player directly.

And McVay is very clear about that.
