Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
Period.
And you know what I found fascinating I'd never noticed before?
I'm going to give you a couple of other verses here that seems to say the same thing when defining love.
Galatians 2.20 is the one that says, I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live.
But watch what it says.
But Christ lives in me.
The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.
I don't know.
We're almost out of time, so I'll give you one more.
But it's all over the place.
Ephesians 5.
He says, be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.
Same language John used.
And live a life of love.
Just as Christ loved us, just as Christ loved us, here it is again.
And gave himself up for us.
Why does it keep saying that this is love?
And it says...
Christ gave himself up for us.
