And I think he's right to doubt it because he's looking for, is there a connection between the hobbits and the rings of power?
But look at the timeline, right?
I think you're absolutely right about the projection point there, because remember, this is the guy who thinks everybody has secrets.
Everybody else is keeping things from each other.
He doesn't think he's the only one who's like this.
He thinks everybody's like this.
And so he just assumes, well, I know I wouldn't be interested in these people for their own sake.
So clearly Gandalf can't be interested.
Clearly I cannot choose the Hobbit in front of you.
