That's a lot of money.
We gave him $45 million for three years.
Led the league in saves last year with San Diego.
He was in the league closer.
We brought him in to set up, you know.
And so we put money into the bullpen.
We also signed back, too, making $60 million.
So we expected the bullpen to be strong.
We always felt highly about Dylan Lee.
And I'd say from an offensive standpoint, the back of the baseball card in a lot of these guys, we gave big long-term deals to.
We obviously believe in them.
I think the thing for us was just โ
adding in some other layers, some other depth.
For years here, we were really durable on the position player side.
Guys rarely went on the IL.
We put no money into our bench.
We didn't spend a whole lot of time on our bench.
And two years in a row, we had a lot of games missed from position players.
So that's where bringing in the Mike Yastrzemskis, who's the key is you can get good players, but are they willing to accept their role?
