I don't think you could come away from your eye test on the field an hour before the game thinking that Indiana was going to win this game.
Like one of those teams physically looks the part in a national championship game.
And buddy, it ain't the national champions.
I can tell you that right now, just on eye test and eye exam.
But you then have to weigh the fact that quite frankly,
Indiana hasn't, in air quotes, looked the part, and I am exaggerating a little bit, but in air quotes, hasn't looked the part against Ohio State or Oregon twice or on and on and on.
Alabama on and on and on.
But, yeah, you have to take that off to Miami's defensive line.
They were tremendous in this game.
both and i'm making the point anyway they found the matchup they liked and it was 80 against 24 and they were they were letting them play nothing that could be done about it by the way you do have to credit o'connor because i actually think o'connor he almost could have a pick six on the drive that mendoza plunges in we'll we'll come back to that i want to come back to that drive a little bit later um but but let's kind of talk about some more kind of leading up to it
um you got charlie becker as your wide receiver three is nuts like charlie becker he's he's as good a wide receiver three as you can want um you got it from malachi tony in this game i mean it he spent most of the middle part of this game as a passenger uh he they force fed him on the first two drives of this game and then they for a while in this game
Well, so I talked to Brian Haynes about this, Indiana's defensive coordinator, on Saturday, media day was Saturday.
And he was like, yeah, we're going to vice him the entire game, which is basically Indiana knew better than to have him singled up pretty much ever.
And they basically, in a sense, they double teamed them.
They basically said, when he touches the ball, we're going to vice tackle him, which means we are going to โ
One player gets one side, another player gets the other side, and it's not a straight gang tackle, but think of it that way.
We're going to vice him is how we're going to get him on the ground.
We are not going to let him get one-on-one matchups.
We are not going to let him get singled up.
They were clear about that.
