But it certainly didn't help.
Was I wrong?
Hey, D'Anthony Melton, I'm looking it up.
He did play 77 games that next year.
Actually, I didn't remember him doing that.
You were the most right.
Do you know D'Anthony Melton's nickname on Basketball Reference?
Mr. Do-Something.
Speaking of the Sixers, I may have given them that award on draft night four years ago.
But my bad this week is the Philadelphia 76ers and their inability to do anything of note at the deadline to boost this team's depth at a time when they desperately need it.
Going into the deadline, they knew PG was going to be out a while.
They knew it was always a strong possibility that Embiid might miss some more games this season.
And yet the primary aim at that deadline appeared to be ducking the tax, which they have now done in four consecutive seasons.
And the issue is that this team does not appear to have the depth to handle any sort of extended absence from PG and Embiid.
When PG and Embiid have been off the court this season, the Sixers have a minus four net rating.
If you just have one of those guys on the court, it's been a plus three.
If you have both of them on the court, plus seven.
Instead of adding any rotation players, Daryl Morey, quote, sold high on Jared McCain, but he didn't use any part of that return to upgrade the existing team, which going into the deadline,
The Sixers were 29-21.
They were fifth in the East for that day right before the deadline.
