Back on the court, more bad news is that Atlanta's soft schedule is about to take a hard turn.
With two games each against Orlando, Boston, and Cleveland to close the season, along with games against Houston, Detroit, the Knicks, and Miami.
Now, in the West, the team with the longest winning streak is the Oklahoma City Thunder, who won a couple of marquee games against Denver and Boston at home.
In the game against Denver, the Thunder were down all their bigs except J-Will, but were able to pull out the win after SGA essentially hit two game-winning step-back threes with a Jokic four-point play sandwiched in between those.
The game was hotly anticipated because it was the first meeting since Lou Dort was ejected for tripping Jokic.
While there weren't any more fights or crazy faces in this one, Lou Dort did manage to dislocate his arm and swing it in a way that defies physics to hit Jokic in the face late in the game, picking up another flagrant in the process.
But the story of this game and the game against Boston was Shea Gilgis-Alexander, who across the two matchups averaged 35 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 12 assists while shooting 69-42-92.
SGA has taken firm control of the MVP race, now a minus 900 betting favorite.
And interestingly, Wemby has moved ahead of Jokic for the second best odds at plus 1500.
Speaking of Wemby, the Spurs had a fun week as well.
First, in a game against the Clippers, the Spurs were down 25 points with nine minutes left in the third quarter.
but came all the way back to complete the second largest comeback in Spurs franchise history, winning 116-112.
Next, in a game against the Rockets, San Antonio just blew out Houston 145-120.
And then in a spicy game against Boston, the Spurs got another impressive win, 125-116, a game in which Wemby hit a career-high eight three-pointers.
Also in that game, Jalen Brown was ejected after arguing with the refs following a no call on a turnover where Brown felt he was pushed by Steph Castle.
The Spurs finished the week with a loss to Denver without Wemby, which brings us to the final top story this week, the wild state of the current West standings behind OKC and San Antonio.
These standings are changing every night and probably will until the end of the season.
But as of Friday morning, your three seed is the Los Angeles Lakers.
Winners of four in a row.
It felt like just a week ago.
