So what's the status of DOC's contribution to the Chathams at the moment?
I mean, I guess you could say it's expensive.
There's only 650 people living on the island.
There are a few tourists because there's not much accommodation.
Does this put it down the priority list for conservation because there's no one to see the work being done successfully?

So plants may die out, birds may become more endangered, but the people are staying.
