I'm very often going to phrase this as when you're visiting parents or parents-in-law because it is very common, this experience, when it is like parent-child relationship.

But it could also go for other relationships in the family as well.

So when someone is, especially a parent, saying after all I have done for you,

When a parent is always expecting a child to repay them for parenting, for basic parenting, for basically keeping you alive as a child, that is extremely unhinged thought process and behavior, obviously, because this goes without saying, but if I'm a parent, I've chosen to have this child.
