When war broke out in November 2020, I fled my hometown of Humera to Sudan. After staying in Hamdait refugee camp for about three months, I moved to another camp, Tenerba. We're surviving as best we can, but life is extremely hard. The situation is very harsh. Refugee life has been reduced to almost nothing.

When I was home, I used to celebrate the holiday festivity with everyone. We would slaughter a chicken, a goat or a sheep and share a meal filled with love and abundance. Now we no longer have meat. Surviving on split chickpeas and millet makes the suffering very bitter. The war in Sudan has affected us deeply. We fled the war in our own country, living behind fertile land, and came here. But now war has broken out in the country that gave us refuge. We worry, asking ourselves.
