For those who aren't aware, Gaines swam for the University of Kentucky, and during the 2022 NCAA Women's Championships, she and other girls were forced to compete against a male swimmer named Leah Thomas. Thomas previously competed as a D1 male swimmer before requesting to switch to the female league.
