And they would then take that information and radio it onto like GHQ or local command to allow
commanders to make informed decisions.
Okay, there's that many Germans.

They're heading in that direction.
They've got these types of vehicles.
Therefore, we'll send our counterattack here.
Again, it's taking away that thing from mainland Europe when the Germans kind of flew through and no one knew where they were going or where they were going to end up.
This is about ensuring we know where they're going in what numbers to effectively counterattack them.
So that special duty branch, again, they had a very short amount of time to be effective.
If you think about it, you've got a wireless set in a church with the aerial going up the steeple.
That's going to be really quickly triangulated by the Germans who can understand this information is being passed.
They're going to find you really, really quickly.
It's not as though you can move the wireless and go somewhere else because you haven't got an aerial.
It's not like the French resistance.
