There's a football story and...
fan story the football story has got nothing to do with the fans in the sense that Steve Clark has had this group of players for six years we've been to three major finals and we have been a severe disappointment to the fans and to the media in each of those tournaments we're looking for a reason why
Hiya folks, how we doing?
Good, how you doing Craig?
Good.
Completely agree with your last point that you made around mediocrity.
I watched the Haiti game, I've watched all the games to be fair, as painful as they were.
And Haiti actually battered us for the vast majority of that game.
And I think, you know, you look at, you've referenced yourself lads about, you know, McGinn, McTominay.
Robertson Ferguson who I thought Ferguson was an absolute standout in the tournament for us none of these boys are turning up and I know McTominay scored an overhead volley against Denmark and you can't take that away from him but he was absolutely terrible for the three games he was shocking and actually if Clark had more of a backbone he should have whipped him he should have taken him off earlier and you would have had an argument he shouldn't have started against Brazil because he was that bad against Morocco
I'm kind of running out of what to say on Klopp to be honest.
I don't understand giving him a four-year deal before the tournament when our form had been poor.
I think we hadn't scored in maybe six games.
We played Couric out to get the confidence up and a friendly.
And then again, we've turned up at this tournament and we were arguably maybe worse than what we were at the Euros, if that was possible.
but then what fans do is they go back to this position where they go ah it's great but we got there but actually if you zoom out on it we beat Haiti we got beat off Morocco we got beat off Brazil and we would have expected that but we've been terrible we've been absolutely terrible and actually part of me doesn't want us to go through because we don't deserve to and I think the most frustrating part is and I know I'm labouring the point here you look at Cape Verde scoring twice against Uruguay and actually peppering them for a large part of that game and we are nowhere near that
and I've just felt dead I felt flat after the Haiti game I really did I think when Steve Clarke says jump the SFA say how high you know for me business sense would have been to say to Steve Clarke we'll go to America it's wonderful that you've qualified us for the first time in 28 years for a World Cup
We'll go to America, we'll assess the performances, and then when we come back, we'll get round the table about the contract.
What happens then?
Because Steve Clarke seemed adamant that he wanted things settled before he flew out.
