All of the Olmec gold actually came from that Maya city I was telling you about with those giant pyramids that began at the beginning of their time at El Mirador in the middle of the jungle.

That was how El Mirador got so rich was the jade quarries that were nearby and they were selling them to the Olmecs.

And so they were using that money, the Maya were using that money to build up their civilization.

What's really interesting about the Olmec realm and what got me thinking about this idea of people being born with deformities and this maybe having something to do with that.
