Stick to your guns.
Yeah, and that's a good point that you just brought up, that this is, in my opinion, and I'm curious to see if you feel the same way, Indiana, but in my opinion, this is a positive thing.
If you stick to your guns, it's showing that you don't crack, right?
Like even when somebody is criticizing you or saying you shouldn't do that, you should do this other thing, but you don't change your mind.
You're like, nope.
I believe in what's right for me and I'm going to do this and I'm not going to listen to anybody else's opinion.
I'm going to stick to my guns.
I'm going to do what I think is best for me.
To me, this expression is almost like a sign of respect.
Even if we don't agree with this person's decision, we still respect that they have made up their mind and they are going to do what they believe in.
So to me, that's like a little...
nuance to this expression that we're respecting somebody's resolve, respecting that they've made up their minds and they're never going to change it.
We can also use it when the pressure doesn't come from other people, but just comes from
life or even from yourself.
Like for example, this year, my wife and I have decided to eat out less.
So to try and save some money on our food budget and just cook at home and eat at home more often because it's often healthier and it's cheaper.
And yeah, so we can save some money and just be healthier by eating at home more often.
However, it's very tempting to go out and eat at restaurants sometimes, especially when we're both very busy at work and we don't have time for cooking and cleaning the kitchen and all of these things.
So in that kind of situation...
The temptation or the pressure is not coming from other people.
