Yeah, so IANA is an airport operator based in Spain, and they are venturing into the book world with an annual award that's recognizing the best published work of narrative fiction in Spanish or translated into Spanish from one of Spain's co-official languages.
And according to the company, the winning prize is €1 million, which
That's wild.
Let's put this into Canadian dollars so we get a better understanding.
That's equivalent to approximately 1.5 million Canadian dollars.
79.
Yeah.
So this 1 million euro prize, that's for the grand prize.
But then the finalists, they get to walk away with approximately 47,000 Canadian dollars.
Of course, like when you look at things like all the literary prizes, the biggest prize, obviously, that you could win is the Nobel Prize in Literature.
And that's the most comparable in financial scale, although the difference there is that the Nobel Prize looks at an author's entire body of work rather than a specific title.
So this one is one specific title.
They are going to be announcing the winner at a gala event in Barcelona on April 8th.
And what's really unique is this company, IANA, plans to purchase thousands of copies of five shortlisted titles for distribution to its employees, as well as schools, libraries and cultural centers.
So that means more exposure, more eyes on these books.
And, you know, in turn, it's just going to be even better for that author.
