This is remedied in the last few episodes when the remaining three or four contestants are handed $8,000 and given a dozen weeks to complete a 12-piece look to be shown at New York Fashion Week in Bryant Park.
Each of them tapes an extended segment in which they talk about their beginnings.
Then, after they commence work on their collections, Tim Gunn himself pays a visit to their homes to check their progress.
