I thought, I've been waiting for this moment for four years.

I must be dying, and then realized pretty quickly that I had malaria.

And so it was a rough start and Mark was incredible.

He had gone from two children to five overnight and I was sick with malaria.

And so it was a very rough beginning, but I took all the medication and got better and then we could settle into life as a family of

Yeah, so we just got as much medical advice as we could and we had no idea what to do with a malnourished baby.

But we were just focused on feeding him, meeting his basic needs and then just attachment, just carrying him as much as we could.

Is that like, how would he respond when you went to pick him up?

When we first brought him home, he was just...

blank.

So he barely moved.

He didn't make any vocal sounds.

So he was nearly two.

He couldn't stand.

He couldn't walk.

He couldn't crawl.
