So I get tired reading it.
Like a lot of modern writing is sort of fast-paced and easy to read and, you know, very clipped.
Jam-packed with ideas every sentence.
So I haven't actually finished it.
Yes, it definitely does.
It actually won the Miles Franklin.
I then went and researched it when I thought, yeah, I'm really liking this book.
I'd liked his previous ones, but I hadn't ever read this one.
I haven't read a Patrick White for decades.
But yeah, it does stand the test of time.
In fact, it's actually relative to today with the themes that are in it.
The themes in it are really around four central characters who are all misfits.
They're all displaced in the own place that they have chosen to live.
And they kind of wander together across the space in
It is really a sort of a mythical place in New South Wales that it is apparently built around the place that Patrick White was living in at the time.
