Like tomorrow now, I'm going to be doing this thing for the Alzheimer's Society.
I'm going to be doing their Trek 26, where we walk 26 miles in his honour.
Yeah, I'm doing it for him.
And I think there are about 1,000 other people who will be doing it for people they love.
Yeah, it's Trek 26, it's called.
And so you do... Being an ambassador for Alzheimer's Society has been a huge part of my...
It's been the lovely way that I have been able to preempt my grief.
So it's sort of a gentle grieving when you're watching somebody in dementia.
Mariella Frustrup put it so beautifully.
She said, I watched my mother turn into a piece of paper lace.
And it is that cobwebbing that you're watching.
And there's something, at least I felt I had some power, something I could do once I became connected with the Alzheimer's Society.
Dad and I tag teamed for that last few days of his life.
And of course, classically, we had been doing that and suddenly he rallied and the nurses at the care home said, go you home and sleep tonight.
And he passed away in his sleep very quietly.
It's interesting, isn't it?
Perhaps he wanted to be on his own.
