And look, maybe that was true, but as the investigators were listening to her, they couldn't help but feel like something was not lining up.
That Darlene's version of events from that night was missing maybe some key details, maybe more than just a few details.
Now, the other reason she gave, it sounded a lot better and it made way more sense medically, though it is still debatable on whether or not it's a solid enough excuse.
Take a listen.
Now, at some point in between responding to the 911 call and interviewing Darlene, the investigators had found what looked to be small amounts of blood in one of the bathrooms inside the home.
And this struck them as very, very odd because Darlene never mentioned going into the bathroom at any point.
From the way she told the story, she found Keith dead, called 911, and was basically frozen in place in shock until the first responders got there.
So how did that blood get into the bathroom?
And at what point did it get in there?
It was suspicious.
And Darlene's answer was not exactly one that really cleared things up.
Now, something that I find pretty interesting about Darlene's interview that I've seen a lot of people point out is that towards the beginning, her body language was a bit off.
She was kind of like crouched down, holding her arms.
And then over time, she started facing further and further away from the investigator who was interviewing her.
And almost like she was like becoming not detached, but just definitely moving.
Now, I will say she had claimed pretty early on in the interview that she was really cold.
So, I mean, maybe that's all there is to it.
She was holding herself to keep herself warm.
She was crouched down trying to keep body heat in.
I'm not really sure.
