They even recalled an incident from a few years ago where Nick allegedly came into the kitchen, clearly intoxicated, grabbed food, and then left without acknowledging any of the guests and anybody inside the house, even after his mom said like, hey, Nick, be polite, say hello.
And according to this friend, this wasn't just a one-off.
They claim that Rob and Michelle had very little control over Nick, even as an adult.
But they spent years trying to help him.
I mean, relapses, rehabs, moving out, moving back in, just this constant cycle.
The friend also said that Rob and Michelle were incredibly protective over Nick.
sometimes even to the frustration of his siblings, because they viewed him as someone who was just deeply unwell and needed constant support.
Which I have to say, that is really complicated when you start breaking it down, because they loved him.
He was their son.
They didn't want to turn their back on him.
They wanted to help him.
And that makes all of this even more incredibly sad, because arguably they were the only ones in Nick's corner.
They loved him unconditionally.
They wanted to support him.
They wanted to help him through this, bringing him to a party, letting him live there, like doing these talks and working together.
It's just so sad because if they were the only ones who really, you know, did love him unconditionally and supported him, he then turned his back on them and allegedly murdered both of them in cold blood, leaving his own sister to be the one to find them.
Now, in regards to the father-son dynamic and relationship, Nick also had worked with Rob on the 2015 film Being Charlie, which this film was inspired by Nick's struggles with addiction and homelessness.
So they tackled this project together, again, maybe as some sort of therapeutic thing, thinking it would bring them closer together and...
that they would just be honest and transparent with their family's struggles.
I don't know, but some people who worked on that film later did claim that the father-son dynamic on set was tense at times with frequent arguments and visible hostility.
