Having followed the case for 20 years and already read everything that was publicly available, Peter wrote to the New South Wales Police requesting access to the full case files. While he waited for a reply, something occurred to him that had never crossed his mind before. As a schoolboy, Peter remembered learning that mangroves produce gases, including the potentially toxic hydrogen sulphide.
