As you mentioned, only his father was Jewish.
His mother was not.
But he is a practicing Jew.
He was able to criticize and yet not open himself up to attacks as being an anti-Semite, clearly.
So that could be where he's a little different than Shapiro.
But you're right.
This still will be a challenge for him because that divide within the Democratic Party is so deep.
And there will be people on the left who want him to be even more outspoken in his
criticism of Israeli foreign policy, and be able to take steps or look at what he's done in the Senate to try to turn those words into action.
Right.
He also could run as the senator and you wouldn't have to resign his seat while he's running.
But if he wins, yes, he would have to leave the Senate.
And I have to dig into George's rules.
But typically it is the governor who appoints the replacement to fill a vacant seat.
And then there is a special election, but not.
Immediately, it could be a number of years that that this Republican would hold awesome seat.
And if it's a close Senate, it looks like it will be.
And if Democrats managed to scratch and claw and take back a Senate majority because they win in Georgia and they flip seats in Maine, which we've talked about in North Carolina, maybe Texas, which we talked about or Alaska or Iowa or Ohio.
then all of a sudden all that effort to get all the way back and get a Senate majority could disappear.
And if you're president and the Senate's in the hands of the other party, it is a lot harder to get any of your nominees, any of your picks for the cabinet, any of your Supreme Court picks, all of that confirmed.
