I thought to myself, if Allah created me and my brain, I'm sure he will not blame me if I ask questions and if I come to certain conclusions.
So I allowed myself to question it and came to the conclusion that it's simply false and I don't believe in it anymore.
I left and at the time I thought I'm the only person who left Islam because it's like I didn't know anybody.
Nobody speaks about it.
Then I went online and by now I see how common it has become for people to declare that they have left Islam.
But for every single one of us, it's always a struggle.
If you publicly talk about Islam, if you publicly say that you have left Islam, that it's a false religion, you deserve to be executed by Islamic morality, by Islamic standards.
So we receive death threats all the time.
I didn't have that many problems with my own family and others, although they kind of cut contact with me.
But I received one threat from a person that I knew very well who said, I will cut off your head and throw it on the square or something.
I've known others who had to flee their families who were chased by their fathers, by their family members and almost killed.
I get death threats all the time online of people saying, shut up or we will kill you or we will do this and this and that to you.
The trouble and the danger is always there.
But I do believe that I'm doing the right thing here.
I think that Islam is an evil religion.
That Islam is an evil political system and that we have the right to speak out against it.
So I shouldn't be hiding.
They should be hiding because they are promoting something that is evil and we are speaking out against it.
Gladly in America where I live, I have the protection of the authorities, of the FBI, which tells me β
Don't let anybody intimidate you.
