So, uh, you want to keep an eye on these trends and obviously like the blue Jays measure everything when it comes to stuff and velo and spin and like strength tests in the gym and how guys are recovering and just what type of velocity they're getting on like explosive deadlifts and all kinds of things.
So they have ways of really just like tracking and monitoring where a guy's arm is and just what, how much workload and volume they're,
capable of of taking so it might not even be a surprise if next time out like we see a little bit of a reduction in the pitch count for for miles right like maybe he goes back to 55 yeah um instead of 66 like the the thing that's been so impressive to me about miles is just his fearlessness in the zone because this guy's going out there with like 60 pitches 65 pitches to play with and he's been asked to get like three or four innings you know i mean
there's not a lot of pitchers that can regularly get you nine to 12 outs on 65 pitches.
Um, so he like, yes, the, the whiff is not there and the strikeouts are not there, but if they were there, he may only be getting seven or eight outs before he blows through his pitch count because strikeouts take a lot of pitches unless you're just going to strike everybody out on three pitches.
But a lot of times in this league, you get to two strikes and guys go into battle mode and start fouling stuff off.
Like how often do we see the blue Jays have that approach?
It's been very impressive to me the way that he's just let his sinker eat on the plate and gotten his ground balls and trusted the defense behind him.
That's not easy for a rookie to do, for a guy with very little professional experience to do, for a guy who's a Rule 5 pick and kind of like pitching for his roster spot every time he's out there to do.
It really says something about like the composure and the makeup that the Blue Jays recognized in him and just like his ability to take on this challenge and to get this done at the highest level in the league when β
he hadn't pitched above the Arizona fall league, uh, prior to this.
So, um, the, this flip side of that, of course, is that there's probably a pretty rough batted ball luck game coming his way because yes, he's getting soft contact and he's getting a lot of contact on the ground and that's helped him a lot.
But like eventually the Babbitt monster catches up with you.
And so there probably is an outing coming here where it's just bleeders and they hit them where they ain't.
you know just liners in the worst possible places and uh all of a sudden like the run total is kind of creeping up on him there just because the luck on on balls in play so uh and even just like the home run luck as well like this is a guy who hasn't allowed a homer since early april um
Excuse me, since, yeah, since early April.
