At first I'm thinking, okay, this is my chance.

I just want to get out of my house.

So when I'm talking to them, I'm not telling them about the years of abuse and we're only scratching the surface.

Um, I'm just telling them I came out and she doesn't like me.

So for them, I think they saw a 16 year old who couldn't be with their girlfriend.

They didn't treat me like that, but they treated me like that.

You know what I'm saying?

But I think after hearing stories from other people, my godmom, my grandma, maybe my older sister, they temporarily put me into my grandma's home.

And so I stayed there and in all of this, I learned that I was never legally adopted.

She only had legal guardianship.

So when CPS got involved in everything was everything, my, her ex-husband reached out to his brother, which was my father.

And he called me.

And so I was there for about two months and we spoke every single day.

And I think that's the first time I've ever talked to somebody and like understood or like got it, you know?
