Satisfaction that you can actually count on in life is not having more of the things that you want. It's wanting less. Haves divided by wants is a much better model that's both biblical and psychologically robust. And so the goal should be for all of us, increasing the numerator, having more with respect to our goals, moving on the run line, and wanting less.

We're evolved toward anger and fear because literally there's more tissue in the brain devoted to negative affect in the limbic system of the brain as opposed to positive affect because it keeps you alive.
