Were you ever young and discovered an empty house in New York?
And then writing a score is like you're running around in a field.
And I think what he means by that is like, you know, with a song, you have to really delve deep inside of you.
What am I trying to connect within myself to say these things?
Cause songs come in all different shapes and forms.
Like you're an antenna and these ideas come to you and you, your job is to sort of document them on, you know, capture the lightning in a bottle.
But with a score, it's like the director, the writers, the whole team is sort of put most of the emotion already on a screen and most of the stories there.
And you can kind of read it just from, you could put it on mute and just see the facial expressions and you're just filling and you're the sonic glue within that frame.
yeah super awesome job to do i mean my first sort of passion as a kid i think my first obsession was movies like i'd buy every movie magazine and i'd just watch everything you know my i had sort of cool older siblings and cool parents which arguably cool parents who didn't mind me watching like the exorcist like seven years old and like you know terminator and they live like i re-watched they live the other day it's an incredible score john carpenter
I really didn't understand that film when I saw it.
And it's so apt to what's all the things that are going on in the world today.
Like everyone should rewatch The Way That They Live.
But yeah, I think as long as you have a strong collaboration in making scores, I think you're going to have a great time.
It's a lot of it is talking to people who don't know how to make music or talk about music and trying to sort of bridge that gap of like speaking a language that the other person can't speak and getting to a middle ground.
