Here's a fact that might blow you as well.
He's five years younger than Bill Cowher.
He's five years younger than Bill Cowher, who retired as a Steelers head coach like 20 years ago.
And now I feel like making this too much about age, but it just feels very... Why age I think is important with this hire specifically...
It feels very opposite to the philosophy that the Steelers have approached hiring head coaches the previous three or four times that they've done it in their franchise history.
They've always gone after the younger guy that can rebuild, reset, and own this thing moving forward.
And when you look at some of the owner's comments, they made this hire 11 days after Mike Tomlin chose to step down, which it doesn't feel like was something they were expecting.
right?
There was some other reporting that said that they were ready to go again at least one more year with Mike Tomlin, kind of assuming that Rodgers would come back and you kind of just re-roll the dice.
How are you making this higher 11 days after it happens and not even entertaining the opportunity to take a Clint Kubiak or Chris Shula, you know, further in the interview process or like really kick the tires on some of these younger guys that are getting love, Sheil Hossie and Udinski.

Steelers fans don't want to be in the same situation they were in before, where a coach that can come in, kind of do okay, do well in the regular season, win 10-plus games in the regular season, potentially, and then peter out in the playoffs.
And it just doesn't make sense for what the franchise, I think, needs after such a long Mike Tomlin tenure.
And I don't think it really makes sense for the current roster that they have.
They don't have an answer at quarterback, something that Mike McCarthy has had
