In 1990, Linda received an invitation.
And I can't help but notice, as the pictures in her scrapbook progress, Linda starts to look more and more like Susan.
Susan wanted to teach, and Linda wanted to learn.
They were getting closer.
We did love each other.
We did love each other.
We were very, very good friends.
But Linda started imitating Susan in other ways, too.
Less healthy ones.
Linda was eating less and, as she put it, exercising like a crazy person.
And then you'd get back to Goldendale and you'd still be, like, running and dieting?
I know exactly what Linda is talking about.
I think a lot of people do.
There were years in my life where I tried to starve myself, and definitely a big part of it was I wanted to fit into beautiful clothing.
And when you are intentionally starving yourself, that is a task that takes over your whole brain.
I didn't think about anything else.
In this condition, you feel like you're not human.
Like you can't eat meals and just enjoy life the way other people can.
