Her looks have to conform to a certain way or she won't be taken seriously.
If you look at any women...
in the media.
And I don't mean this in any way in derogatory, because I do believe that equality means freedom to do whatever the hell it is you want to do.
But I know, you know, most of them feel that they do have to try and preserve, particularly in their face, their youthful look for as long as possible.
And until we get more women saying, I used to, when I started this particular phase of my career, which is my sixth, I think, when I was... Your sixth career?
My sixth career, yeah.
When I was starting to write for the papers and I started to contribute to media generally.
And one of the things I started to do very early on was contribute to the Vincent Brown show.
Do you remember the tonight show, Vincent Brown?
Yeah.
this was back like just 2011 2012 when he regularly chewed up politicians you know we were in austerity it was all awful and I used to do the paper review very often but I remember sitting in the studio now besides the fact that Vincent Brown I never got beyond my terror of him even though he never generally chewed up the people who were doing the newspaper reviews I remember sitting there looking at him and thinking you know the day that we have a female woman who looks as much like as if she fell out of bed as Vincent Brown does and nobody comments on it that people just accept it then we like
have equality.
That'll be equal.
I'm still waiting for it.
Yeah, we don't play on the same pitch at all.
And I think that the more women who are out there saying, this is me, this is how I look.
I'm not saying that all women have to do what I've chosen to do, but I am saying if there's more women like me saying this is equally acceptable.
then women feel they have a choice.
I have a choice to spend a lot of money on Botox and creams and all kinds of stuff that I believe won't make a damn difference.
