So they were wildly exciting.

But I remember, you know, when I started to go to them and there was one in particular in Prez and Glastul where you had to go down a couple of steps onto the floor of the hall.

And I remember standing at the top and saying a prayer to Jesus.

Jesus, please, when I get to the end of this stairs, may I still not be able to see over the top of everybody's head.

May there be at least two or three fellas that, you know, might be tall.

Or at least as tall.

And most of the time there wasn't.

And during the slow set, do you remember what used to happen?

Was that, you know, you'd be dancing away around your handbag with your girls and everything was fine.

And then the music tempo would change.

And the first bar is the 10cc's I'm Not In Love.

And all the girls had to sit around the wall.

And the fellas gathered and they eyed up all the talent to see who they'd honour with asking to dance.

And I was left then with, do I sit down or do I stay standing up?

Because if I'm sitting down, I look normal height.

And if I'm standing up, then I'm one of the lads, like, and I don't want to be one of the lads.

I'm one of the girls.

And every time he'd come for me, one of the smallest fellas in the place.
