When I retired, I went straight into management, but I went down a different route.
I wanted to go to lower league and get my hands dirty, which I really enjoyed at times, but that's tough.
I have to give a big shout out to part-time managers.
It's tough because guys are working.
You might get late call-offs, et cetera, et cetera.
You only train for maybe three, four hours a week.
And then I come out of that, and I was happy with what I was doing, and then I get thrown straight into the madness, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I just loved the pressure side of it, if I'm being honest with you.
I never get much sleep, if I'm being honest, but...
Yeah, I wouldn't change it.
In terms of my career in football, that beats everything.
yeah straight from work in their work gear straight nothing to eat straight onto the training pitch so yeah I take my hat off to certainly the players at part time level but also the coaches and the managers and the staff because they put a lot of work in
Yeah, I mean, it was madness at part-time level, as you mentioned there.
You obviously had the game on a Saturday, but you would train Tuesday, Thursday.
But it was every single day you were having to...
to be on the phone non-stop and then as you say going in at Rangers obviously it's a different level and different calibre of player and the facilities were amazing and then you've got a lot of support staff round about you who I've got to be honest were brilliant for me as well so
it's great to see both sides but I honestly enjoyed both sides but I just felt at a stage I just wanted to come out of it and I never thought about getting back in and then obviously the opportunity arose in February last year and it was one that I was never going to turn down and it was one if I'm being honest with you I loved I just loved the pressures and the demands that were put on you when you have a bump in the road in terms of a bad result or a performance
then you've got two or three days to go and fix it.
That's the challenges that I loved.
He has.
