Obviously, like if DeSantis had been in charge of L.A., I think people would have felt it. like there was more competence going on around them. Because I agree, of course, with both of you that the contract in California has been broken and that there's a huge crisis in trust in public institutions. I just think that this was an act of God and was so devastating for these ecological reasons.

that it seems sort of almost unfair. You know, the Karen Bass being in Ghana, that was an unforced error that led to this perception that the people in charge were not worthy of the trust of the public. And they have earned that in a million different ways.

I certainly, through all of my research, have not been able to come up with a better plan for how they could have handled this, but it may sink their careers. I think that that's very likely.

I want to say something really quickly because I really want to hear what Brianna has to say about that. 20 people have died, I believe. Is that correct?

24 people so far have died, and we mourn every single one of them. Horrific tragedy. Most of them were seniors and disabled people who couldn't get out. It's horrifying. When you look at the scope of the damage, people were informed. People got out.

And we're talking about, I mean, you think about the neighborhoods like the Pacific Palisades. I mean, I've been reading a lot about this. A lot of these towns are built. There's one road going into an area where 2,500 people live. The cars, they had to flee their cars and survived fleeing their cars because the trees on either side of the road were engulfed in flames.
