Vonn has been hospitalized in Treviso, a city a couple hours outside of Cortina D'Ampezzo, ever since the race on Sunday.

The crash caused a complex tibia fracture in her left leg.

An earlier photo she posted showed her in the hospital bed with an external fixator stabilizing her leg, an indication that the injury was severe.

She has already received multiple operations.

In the video, Vaughn is seen wearing a hospital gown, lying in bed, as she says it's been a difficult few days.

Vaughn said she hopes to be able to transfer home after another surgery here in Italy.

She said she will need at least one more surgery after returning home, too.

Alpine ski team has been a force at the Olympics, but this is the first medal for the men.

33-year-old Cochran Siegel comes from a family of Olympians, including his mom, Barbara Cochran, who won gold in the 1972 slalom race.

In the men's Super G, the dominant Swiss team took the other two medals.

Franjo van Almen won his third gold of this Olympics, and Marco Odermatt won bronze.

The women's Super G is set for Thursday here in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The beloved Italian skier Sofia Goggia is a favorite to medal, as is New Zealand's Alice Robinson.

It's the one women's event Team USA doesn't have a top-tier contender in after the injuries to Lindsey Vonn, who was third in the World Cup Super G standings before her catastrophic crash on Sunday.
