It is, and I think it's generous in various ways that come from the collective nature of the enterprise.
I think it's generous in what it views as Australian literature.
I mean, necessarily generous.
It's capacious, I think.
The individual enthusiasms of the contributors are
sort of unthinkingly generous there's this lovely assumption that seems to lie behind all the essays that of course i think this person is wonderful even when i find them complicated and frustrating there's so much of value here to me personally that i'd love to pass on and as a collective enterprise you realize because we we put it together piecemeal
you end up with this absolute treasure house.

And one of the reasons that I wanted there to be so many people involved was because my own reading can only be limited.
And there's so much to choose from that I hope readers who aren't necessarily writers or don't want to be writers can
really gain a rich and enlivening picture of Australian stories.
Thanks, everyone.
