There are those who want this day to turn violent.
Please, California, don't give them what they want.
Stand shoulder to shoulder and lead with peace.

Governor Newsom writes, as Californians take to the streets today to stand up against Trump's authoritarian playbook, I urge everyone to stay safe and demonstrate peacefully.

And then Governor Newsom has this message to the military.
California celebrates the history and achievements of our men and women in uniform, and this state's huge contributions to defend democracy.
But the scaled up live munitions being fired over a major freeway is a public safety risk.
Due to the extreme life safety risk and distraction to drivers, including sudden unexpected and loud explosions, a section of I-5 will have to be closed on October 18th.
This decision comes at the recommendation of traffic safety experts at the California Highway Patrol.
Just think about if they didn't do it,

Let's say the state is put on notice that this is going to take place.
The state does not shut down I-5.
While somebody's driving, live munitions are shot.
