Very few guys can hit the ground running and just produce right away out of a foreign league.
And if they do, they're usually someone like Shohei Otani, to be honest.
Probably a little bit.
I mean, I could see a scenario where you'd want to do it.
I could see some scenarios where you'd put Vlad at DH and put Okamoto at first.
So in theory, everyone DHs a bit more, and I don't hate the idea of giving him a day or two to really just focus on his at-bats, be able to work in the cage a little bit more in between and zero in with a traject on a specific pitcher that might help set him up for success while he makes this transition.
Yeah, I mean, we have been spoiled.
Anyone around baseball in Toronto from, you know, the Donaldsons to the Chapmans to anyone in between, you know, there have been some really, really good defensive third basemen for the Toronto Blue Jays.
And so it's going to be a bit of a transition period, I think, because, you know,
He's not necessarily going to be a guy right now that I think is going to contend for gold gloves, like a lot of the third basemen that have been around Toronto recently.
And especially when you think about a guy like Matt Chapman, there was so much range over there at third.
I think Okamoto is not looking like he's a plus range guy.
Anything can change.
Guys can change the way their bodies work, but...
As of right now, I think that they're hoping he makes the routine plays.
It does seem like his hands are pretty good, and so some of those hot shots that are in close proximity but tough to field, he might be above average at some of those plays.
But to me, that's further reason why he's going through this offensive transition.
If you want to get him at DH or get Vlad at DH and Okamoto at first base, where he had played the last couple of seasons after being a third baseman prior, it might just take a little bit off his plate right now because it's hard to work
on all of those things at once.
And hey, there's a baseball game today and you got to step in there against some of the best in the world.
