He ran toward the spotlight.
He claimed all the responsibility.
He turned the trial into a referendum on himself and then threw himself onto Germany's humiliation on the government and what they were doing.
So I call this the main character theory that you always want to be the main character in the story.
You want to put yourself in a position where you can be considered the protagonist.
And that's going to be Hitler's strategy going forward.
So actually, you know, you probably know that he eventually becomes leader of Germany, right?
Well, from here to there, he serves in no positions in government.
Because he always has to be the main character.
So if he's just serving in the Reichstag, in the parliament, if he's the vice president, if he's the governor of wherever, he's not the main character.
He always wants to be the main character.
He always wants the story to be about him.
He always wants to be responsible for the outcomes.
When you're a side character, that's the most infuriating thing.
is that you are judged by things that you're ultimately not responsible for, right?
That's the fate of being the number two guy, right?
There's nothing wrong with being number two, and in some ways there are advantages to it, but ultimately you get judged for the results that someone else is ultimately in charge of.
So lesson number two, always be the main character of your own story.
Hitler is good at that.
